About the Department

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI &ML) was established in 2025 with an approved intake of 30 students. The curriculum follows the syllabus prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Chennai.

The department focuses on emerging and transformative technologies that have significantly influenced various sectors and driven rapid advancements. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI &ML) continue to push the boundaries of both software and hardware industries, expanding the capabilities of modern machines.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science dedicated to developing systems that exhibit intelligent behavior. An intelligent agent in this domain is designed to take actions that maximize its chances of achieving specific goals. AI encompasses concepts that enable machines to perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as reasoning, learning, planning, communication, perception, and object manipulation.

AI includes a wide range of technologies aimed at simulating human cognitive processes, including problem-solving and decision-making. Machine Learning (ML), a subset of AI, focuses on developing algorithms and statistical models that enable computers to perform tasks without explicit programming. It allows systems to learn from data, adapt to new inputs, and improve their performance over time.

The department actively conducts co-curricular activities such as guest lectures, seminars, training programs and workshops to enhance students knowledge and technical skills. Additionally, industrial visits are organized regularly to provide practical exposure and keep students updated with current industry trends.

Regular departmental and class committee meetings, conducted by the Principal and the Head of the Department, help monitor student performance. Special attention is given to identifying slow learners, and appropriate remedial measures are implemented to support their academic progress.

செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு மற்றும் இயந்திரக் கற்றல் (AI &ML) துறை 2025 ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டது. இந்தத் துறைக்கு 30 மாணவர்கள் சேர்க்கைக்கு அனுமதி வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இத்துறையின் பாடத்திட்டம் Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), சென்னை வழங்கிய பாடத்திட்டத்தின்படி அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்தத் துறை, பல்வேறு துறைகளில் பெரும் மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்திய மற்றும் வேகமான முன்னேற்றங்களை உருவாக்கிய புதிய மற்றும் மாற்றத்தைக் கொண்ட தொழில்நுட்பங்களில் கவனம் செலுத்துகிறது. செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு மற்றும் இயந்திரக் கற்றல் (AI &ML) ஆகியவை மென்பொருள் மற்றும் வன்பொருள் துறைகளின் எல்லைகளை விரிவுபடுத்தி, நவீன இயந்திரங்களின் திறன்களை மேம்படுத்துகின்றன.

செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு (AI) என்பது கணினி அறிவியலின் ஒரு கிளையாகும். இது புத்திசாலித்தனமான நடத்தை கொண்ட அமைப்புகளை உருவாக்குவதற்காக வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த துறையில் Intelligent Agent என்பது குறிப்பிட்ட இலக்குகளை அடைவதற்கான வாய்ப்புகளை அதிகரிக்கும் வகையில் செயல்படுகிறது. AI மூலம் மனிதர்களின் நுண்ணறிவு தேவைப்படும் செயல்களை — உதாரணமாக பகுத்தறிதல், கற்றல், திட்டமிடல், தொடர்பு, உணர்தல் மற்றும் பொருள் கையாளுதல் போன்றவற்றை இயந்திரங்கள் செய்யக்கூடியதாக மாற்றுகிறது.

AI பல்வேறு தொழில்நுட்பங்களை உள்ளடக்கியது. இது மனிதர்களின் சிந்தனை முறையைப் போல பிரச்சினை தீர்க்கும் திறன் மற்றும் முடிவு எடுக்கும் திறன் போன்றவற்றை இயந்திரங்களில் உருவாக்குகிறது. இயந்திரக் கற்றல் (ML) என்பது AI-இன் ஒரு துணைப்பிரிவாகும். இது குறிப்பிட்ட நிரலாக்கம் இல்லாமல் கணினிகள் பணிகளைச் செய்யக் கற்றுக்கொள்வதற்கான ஆல்காரிதங்கள் மற்றும் புள்ளிவிவர மாதிரிகளை உருவாக்குகிறது. இது தரவிலிருந்து கற்றுக்கொண்டு, புதிய தகவல்களுக்கு ஏற்ப தன்னை மாற்றி, காலப்போக்கில் செயல்திறனை மேம்படுத்த உதவுகிறது.

மாணவர்களின் அறிவையும், தொழில்நுட்பத் திறன்களையும் மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கில், Gust Lecturers, Semines , மற்றும் Workshops போன்ற இணைப் பாடத்திட்ட செயல்பாடுகள் முறையாக நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. மேலும், Industrial Visits மூலம் மாணவர்களுக்கு நடைமுறை அனுபவம் வழங்கப்பட்டு, தற்போதைய தொழில் நுட்ப போக்குகளுடன் புதுப்பித்து வைக்கப்படுகின்றனர்.

மாணவர்களின் கல்வி முன்னேற்றத்தை கண்காணிக்க, முதல்வர் மற்றும் துறைத் தலைவர் தலைமையில் துறை மற்றும் வகுப்பு குழுக் கூட்டங்கள் முறையாக நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. மெதுவாக கற்கும் மாணவர்களை அடையாளம் கண்டு, அவர்களின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு தேவையான திருத்த நடவடிக்கைகள் மற்றும் ஆதரவு வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.
